Tonight, I’m smoking the new West Tampa black toro. It comes in a nice oily dark wrapper. Solid feel. The cut and a light kicks off with a chewy smoke that has some woodsy notes, coco, coffee and earth with some black pepper on the retro. Getting into the first third I’m getting some sweetness and a eucalyptus essence type of medium bodied’ness. I’m tasting a light espresso. The black pepper has backed off a bit to a white pepper, a lot of dark toasted notes, slightly tight draw, good smoke output. It’s climbing up to medium plus body now at the end of the first third. It’s carrying a wavy burn line I’m letting go for now. Into the second third it’s creamy smooth, pretty consistent. Sweet coco, earthiness and some cedar. Getting a pecan nuttiness. Definitely a flavorful cigar, it has this flavor I’m tasting I can’t really say what it is, sort of a roasted fruit note. If that makes sense. There’s a dark chocolate I’m enjoying now. This is holding a nice long ash. The final third has transitioned into black coffee and bakers chocolate, black pepper is back in the retro. There’s a tongue citrus and dark profile flavors. I can see this being a popular cigar. Overall, there’s a lot going on in this cigar. I’ve enjoyed smoking it, and I’m rating it a 92.
