An unbelievably special, 10 year old Cap Classique that has been made available to us by winemaker Melissa Nelson. It is 100 % Chardonnay sourced from Bot River, Overberg and the Western Cape. It has been left on the lees for an extraordinary 10 years and was disgorged in June 2023, giving rise to the appropriate name of ‘RD’ which stand for “recently disgorged”. This is a wonderfully complex wine where both fruit notes as well as brioche notes play intricately with each other. Fruit characters of apples and orange citrus like tangerine peak through a beautiful mineral core and restrained creaminess, with hints of savoury spice.
